Support
for Adult Carers
The Carers’ Resource works closely with our
colleagues in health and social care, whether it’s in
your GP surgery or in hospital. We can offer different types
of support depending on your needs. It may be a simple question,
advice through a complicated issue or just someone to talk
to.
Our Information Team is a comprehensive
information and signposting service covering everything from
specific illnesses and disabilities to short breaks and holidays
and from transport to long-term care. Enquiries from carers,
their families, professionals and the general public are dealt
with promptly, and in confidence.
Our Carer Support Team of specialist staff
can guide you through your caring role offering individually
tailored support, advice on benefits entitlement, the chance
to talk and guidance through the maze of local voluntary and
statutory sector services available.
Our Link Team arranges activities, carer
support groups, lunches and outings as well as visiting carers
individually at their homes or a chat on the phone to offer
companionship and extra support as and when they need it.
Our Children and Families Team offer specialist
support for the whole family where parents are caring for
children with special needs or where the children or siblings
are young
carers. The GO (Going Out) scheme provides
specialist sitters to enable parents to take a break from
caring for a disabled child.
Our Changing Lives Team supports carers
to re-engage and maintain learning and employment opportunities.
Carers have legal rights at work and juggling a job with caring
responsibilities can be very demanding. Click
